Alice Marie Cox, age 83, of St. James, formerly of Dixon, was born on June 10, 1941, at Poplar Bluff, a daughter of John Presley and Pearl Velma (Corder) Lampston and departed this life on Sunday, April 6, 2025 in the Arbors Victoria Place, Cuba.
Alice was united in marriage on August 3, 1961, at Poplar Bluff to Mr. Raymond Lee Cox. She was preceded in death by her husband on January 27, 1979; her son, Johnny Cox on March 18, 2024; her father on August 31, 1960; her mother on April 27, 1999; her siblings, John Lampston, Walter Lampston, Bobby Lampston, Alvin Lampston, Donald Lampston, Annabelle Ward, June Vasel and an infant, Judy Lampston in 1934.
Alice was baptized in 1966 and was a member of the Sheppard Baptist Church and later attended Pisgah Baptist Church. She had worked at Brown Shoe Company, Dixon on the assembly line for 15 years beginning 1979 until the factory closed in 1992. She then worked for Maries Manor, Vienna in Housekeeping and later in home health. She enjoyed collecting rocks, gardening, quilting, fishing and going to yard sales.
Those left to mourn the passing of Alice include: her son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Gayla Cox, Papillion, Nebraska; two daughters, Tammy Cox, St. James and Leasa and Amanda Waters, Kansas City, Missouri; her brother, Everett Lampston and her sister, Ruby Wright; three grandchildren, Kristiana Cox, Brianne Ott and Nolan Waters; three great-grandchildren, Lyric, Walter and Henry and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of her service at 12 noon, Thursday, April 10, 2025, with Bro. Charles Bassett officiating all in the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Home at 205 West Third Street, Dixon, MO 65459.
Interment will be in the Sheppard Cemetery next to her beloved husband, under the direction of the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
Memorial contributions are suggested in memory of Mrs. Alice Cox to the Sheppard Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund with envelopes available at the funeral home the day of her service or c/o Martin Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, P.O. Box GG Dixon, MO 65459
