Andrew Herbert Mills Lowe, Jr., of Crocker, was born on May 7, 1933 in Woodstock, Connecticut to Andrew Herbert Mills Lowe, Sr. and Helen Mildred (Andrews) Lowe and departed this life at 5:18 a.m., Friday, April 17, 2020 in the Osage Beach Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. He attained the age of 86 years, 11 months and 10 days.
Andy lived and worked on his family farm in Putnam, CT until he joined the Army. The military brought him to Ft. Leonard Wood where he met Leah Y. Heade. They were married August 25, 1956, for 49 years until her death in 2005. To this union three children were born. Following his time in the military, he worked at the Crocker Feed Store until he and Leah decided to go into the grocery business in 1969. H&L Supermarket began in downtown Crocker, but by 1977 the business had grown and they built on a new location on the outskirts of Crocker. Later they added stores in Iberia, Dixon, Camdenton and Mount Vernon, as well as Andy's Short Stop.
Mr. Lowe was baptized as a young man and was a member of the Crocker Christian Church and the Waynesville Masonic Lodge #375 AF & AM. He was an avid fisherman and Cardinals fan and was very supportive of his children and grandchildren in all their endeavors – especially sports.
Andy married Judy (Benton) Brown July 14, 2007. They spent their time fishing, gardening and cheering for the Cardinals. They were married 13 years.
Mr. Lowe was preceded in death by his wife, Leah, June 19, 2005; a son, David James Lowe, July 2, 1960; his mother, Helen Lowe and father, Andrew Lowe, Sr., in 1975 and two brothers, Charles Lowe at the age of one year and Ronald Lowe on June 22, 2016.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Lowe include: his wife, Judy Lowe, Crocker; son, Andy (Kathy) Lowe III, Crocker daughter, Julie (Keith) Dearlove, Ponte Verda, FL step-son, Jamon Brown, Waynesville; one brother, Ralph (Dottie) Lowe, Huntley, IL; sister, Carole (Tony) Erdman, Groton, CT; sister, Barbara Rieger, Villa Ridge, MO; thirteen grandchildren, Johnna Lowe, Andrea Lowe Bruemmer, Kaitlyn Miles Houston, Andrew H. M. Lowe, IV, Kylah Lowe, Kamryn Lowe, Abby Lowe, Kenzie Lowe, Annah Lowe, Alivia Lowe, Heather Dearlove, Justin Dearlove and Hailey Dearlove; two step-grandchildren, Aly Brown and Alex Brown; six great-grandchildren, Braxton Bruemmer, Eli Houston, Lizzie Houston, Cadence Lowe, Owen Dearlove and Levi Dearlove and many other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2020 with full military honors in the Crocker Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker, MO. Larry Richardson, Crocker Christian Church and Pastor Doug Jacobson Eureka Baptist Church, Richland will officiate.
