Audrey Marie Penland, 87, of Crocker, Missouri passed away Sunday morning, October 10, 2021 at her home in Crocker.

Audrey was born December 15, 1933, in Pleasant Hill, Illinois, the daughter of Oral and Mabel (Walters) Layman.  She was preceded in death by her father on May 30, 1995, her mother on January 20, 1993 and brother Robert on June 8, 1997.

Audrey was united in marriage October 11, 1953 at Dixon, Missouri to Mr. Cecil Penland.  They were one day short of completing 68 years of marriage together and were blessed with one daughter, Sherry and two sons, Randy and Larry.

Audrey graduated from high school in Waynesville, Missouri.  She was baptized at a young age and was an active and faithful member of the Crocker Christian Church for over sixty years.  She worked as a personnel clerk for the Post Exchange at Fort Leonard Wood.  After retiring, she enjoyed reading, knitting, playing cards, working puzzles, genealogy and spending time with her family and friends.

Those left to mourn the passing of Audrey include: her husband, Cecil Penland; her children, Sherry Porter and her companion, Eric Schwandt, Crocker; Randy Penland and his wife, Donna, Lee's Summit and Larry Penland and his wife, Kristina Senkbeil; six grandchildren, Shannon Porter and husband, Dave Hesford, Tim Penland and wife, Lauren, Andy Penland and wife, Hannah, Sophie Penland, Zach Penland and Amanda Penland; five great-grandchildren, Makayla, Megan, Sam, Luke and Violet; her sister, Louise Hammack and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be  from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 13, 2021 in the Crocker Christian Church with Larry Richardson officiating.

Interment will be in the Crocker Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker. Pallbearers for Audrey are Bobby Layman, Rick Mihalevich, Gary Mitchell, Eric Schwandt, Jimmy Wells and Kris York.

Memorials are suggested by the family to the Crocker Christian Church with envelopes available at the church or the office of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker.
