Betty Jean Brown of Crocker, Missouri was born on September 12, 1937, in Crocker, Missouri the daughter of Carl Emerson and Velma Ruth (Campbell) Walters and departed this life at 4:55 a.m., Sunday morning, July 9, 2017, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. Betty had been ill for a short time and had attained the age of 79 years, 9 months and 27 days.
Mrs. Brown was united in marriage on July 2, 1955, in the Crocker Christian Church, to Don Robert Brown and to this union, three children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents and three grandchildren; Jordan Larissa Brown, Thomas Scott Foster and Maxwell Owen Sheeley.
Mrs. Brown was baptized at the age of 9 years and was a faithful member of the Crocker Christian Church where she had served as the pianist, Bible teacher or in any other capacity where she was needed. Mrs. Brown had worked for Murphy Telephone Company and later for Sharp's Distributing as a secretary and bookkeeper as well as being a loving and devoted housewife and homemaker. She enjoyed quilting, singing and taking care of people, especially her family.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Brown include: her husband of 62 years, Don Brown, of Crocker; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Vicki Brown, Dixon; Joe and Lou Brown, Crocker; one daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Jeff Sheeley, Richland; one sister, Juanita Goff, Crocker; eight grandchildren, Kristina, Andrew, Brian, Kayla, Jamie, Seth, Lucas and Lance; six great-grandchildren, Elaina, Riley, Alli, Grayson, Mya and Eastyn; one special friend Edna June Adamson and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Brown at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 12, 2017 in the Crocker Christian Church with Larry Richardson officiating.
Interment was in the Crocker Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker. Pallbearers for Mrs. Brown are Andrew Brown, Brian Brown, Seth Brown, Lucas Sheeley, Lance Sheeley and Brian Foster. Honorary pallbearers are C. James Brown, Alex Shelton, Brennen Goff and Riley Foster.
