Betty Jean Carver Penland, of Crocker, was born on April 21, 1931, at Labadie, Missouri a daughter of Melvon and Lena (Bates) Carver and departed this life at 8:30 a.m., Sunday morning, March 3, 2019 at her residence. Mrs. Penland had attained the age of 87 years, 10 months and 10 days.

Betty was a 1950 graduate of Crocker High School and enjoyed a long career as an assistant supervisor for AFFES at Fort Leonard Wood. Following her retirement she continued to work part time for Civil Service. Betty enjoyed being with family and friends and was a great lover of all animals, especially horses and cats.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Melvon and Lena; her former husband, George Penland and four brothers, Melvon Carver, Jr., Howard Carver, Charles Carver and William (Bill) Carver.

Betty was greatly loved and will be sadly missed by her daughter, Debra Jean Fraski, Crocker; two grandchildren, Ian Matthew Fraski and Katelyn Michelle Fraski, both of Crocker; nephews; nieces and many other relatives and friends.

A private family memorial and interment service will be held at a later date under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker.
