Betty Jo Street, of Crocker, was born on December 19, 1932, at Crocker, a daughter of Dillard and Lona (Burnett) Wilkes and departed this life at 5:55 a.m., Monday, December 7, 2015, in the Life Care Center Waynesville. Betty Jo had been in failing health for the past few years and had attained the age of 82 years and 11 months.
Betty Jo was united in marriage on January 27, 1952 in Dixon to Delmar Victor Street and to this union, two sons were born. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmar on July 25, 1987; one son, Larry on November 26, 2004; her parents; two brothers, Dillard Wayne Wilkes and Snowden Wilkes and six sisters, Barbara Wilkes, Bonnie Belle Wilkes, Jacqueline Wilkes, Evelyn Wilkes, Sharon Kloeppel and Florene Routh.
Mrs. Street was baptized early in life and was a member of the Hilltop Christian Union Church, Crocker and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, Crocker. Her love of her family was always seen on her face, but her grandchildren were her real pride and joys. Betty Jo always enjoyed lending a helping hand to others when she was able.
Those left to mourn the passing of Betty Jo include: one son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Rita Street, Iberia; daughter-in-law, Teresa Street, Crocker; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Homer Wilkes and Gary and Dolores Wilkes, all of Crocker; sisters-in-law, Cheryl Wilkes, Odessa and Norma Howell, Crocker; three grandchildren, Matthew and Rachel Street, Jonathan Street and Brianna Street; three great-grandsons, Mason Street, Ethan Street and Hunter Street; and many other relatives and friends.
