Brenda Kay Burgess, of Dixon, was born on September 7, 1958 at Waynesville, a daughter of Daniel Patrick and Shirley Jean (Prater) Malone and departed this life at 10:43 p.m., Saturday, December 12, 2020 in the Phelps Health, Rolla. Brenda had attained the age of 62 years, 3 months and 5 days.

Brenda was united in marriage on December 18, 1976, at Dixon, to Robert Gene Burgess and to this union, one son was born. She was preceded in death by her father, Pat; her mother, Shirley, and her step-father who raised her, Hubert "Blondie" Kizer and a half-brother, Barry Malone.

Brenda was baptized early in life and at the time of her passing was a member of the Burnett Church near Dixon. She had worked for Quaker Window Products, Freeburg; Brown Shoe Company and the nursing homes in Dixon and Vienna, but for most of her working life she was the City Clerk for the City of Dixon. Brenda never met a stranger and she loved to visit with people. Once she met you, she never forgot you, she always had a hug for everyone and a "I Love You!".

Those left to mourn the passing of Brenda include: her husband, Bob Burgess; her children, Jason Burgess; Shawn Burgess Matherly and his wife, Shannon and Melinda " Mindy" Meeker and her husband, Kevin; her step-mother, Jenny Malone; her siblings, Sandra and Vaughn McCain; Danny and Nellie Malone; Bruce and JoAnn Malone; her half-brother, Kelly Malone; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation for Brenda from 10 – 11 a.m. with her funeral service at 11 a.m., all on Thursday, December 17, 2020 in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon with Bro. Danny Bassett, Burnett Church officiating.

Private burial will be in the Sheppard Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon. Honorary pallbearers for Brenda were Jason Burgess, Alicia Brown, Tommy Nichols, Michael Olsen, Brian Mathis, Kevin Malone, Sam Lawson and Steven Malone.

Memorial contributions are suggested per the wishes of the family with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
