Calvin Jay Bowling, age 65, of Crocker, was born on January 2, 1960, at Waynesville, a son of Clarence Emmer and Dorothy Marie (Walters) Bowling and passed from this life on Thursday, December 25, 2025 in the University Hospital and Clinics, Columbia.

Calvin was baptized early in life and had attended the Crocker Assembly of God Church. He was a musician for most of his working life and had started playing with Joe Tanner in the "Hawkeye Band". Later, he and his brother Andy started the band "Flash Back" and played in it for over thirty years, opening for several big name singers. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, music and being with his family.

Those left to mourn the passing of Calvin include: his brothers, Eddie Bowling, Crocker and Roy Bowling and his wife, Angela of Richland; one sister, Pamela Batty and husband David, Montreal; sister-in-law, Tammy Bowling, Crocker; the children that he helped raise, Celestia, Michelle, Melissa and Malicah; numerous nephews and nieces and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence in 2001 and Dorothy in 1993; three brothers, Donald Bowling in 2019; Thomas Andrew "Andy" Bowling in 2021 and Delbert "Terry" Bowling in 2025 and one niece, Ginger Skaggs in 2018.

Visitation will be held for Calvin from 10 a.m. until the time of his memorial service at 11 a.m. all on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 in the Assembly of God Church, Crocker with Pastor Cruz Allen officiating.

Private interment will be held at a later date in the family plot of the Assembly of God Cemetery, Crocker.
