Carl Jean Benoit, 86, of St. Charles, a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at his home surrounded by his children. He was born August 31, 1936, in Hayes, Louisiana, a son of Abney and Inez (Gatte) Benoit.

Carl married Ruth Ann Cochran on November 14, 1956, at Bolt, West Virginia and to this union, three children were born. He was preceded in death by his wife on October 25, 2005; his parents and two brothers, Leroy and A.J.

Carl was baptized at the age of 12 and was a member of the United Pentecostal Church. He served in the United States Marines from 1953 until 1956. Carl retired as a tool and die maker from the Chrysler Assembly Plant and was a member of the United Auto Workers. He was also a specialist in duct tape repair.

Carl will be missed by his children, Debra Slack, Richard Benoit and Christina Besaw; six grandchildren; Jonas (Sara) Lewis, Amanda (Mike) Trombley, Tyler (Courtney) Besaw, Kyle (Caitlin) Besaw, Dylan Besaw, and Rylan (Faith) Besaw; seven great-grandchildren; his siblings, Harold (Janet) Benoit and Joyce Collins; an abundance of nephews and nieces and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 10 – 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2023 with his funeral service at 11 a.m., in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Crocker, with Bro. Darryl Hayes officiating.

Interment with full military honors will be in the Crocker Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker. Pallbearers are Jonas Lewis, Mike Trombley, Tyler Besaw, Kyle Besaw, Dylan Besaw and Rylan Besaw. Honorary pallbearers are Danny Cochran, Tegan Pullum and Tom Harris.

Memorial contributions are suggested per the wishes of the family with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker.
