Carl Stanley McDowell, age 75, of Granite City, Illinois, was born on May 2, 1950, in Granite City, Illinois, a son of Glen Karl and Lois Evelyn (Williams) McDowell and passed from this life on Thursday, February 26, 2026 in the Sunset Health Care Center, Union, Missouri.

Carl was a United States Navy veteran having honorably served his country from January 1970 until January 1974; he then went into the United States Coast Guard where he served from April 1976 until April 1978.

Carl attended Webster University a short time and then attended Southern Illinois University, graduating in 1985 with a Bachelor degree with a major in Government and a minor in Human Services. Carl worked for Dillard's Department Store for a short time before going to work for the Defense Mapping Agency and later working for ABBCO Service Corporation and then retiring from the United States Postal Service all in St. Louis.

Those left to mourn the passing of Carl include: his mother, Lois McDowell of Granite City, Illinois; numerous cousins and other relatives and friends.

Carl was preceded in death by his father, Glen on December 25, 1979.

Carl  will be laid to rest with his parents on Monday, May 11, 2026 in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
