CAROLYN SWITZER
"GRANNY"

Carolyn Jane Switzer, of Dixon, was born on November 16, 1941, at Hooker, a daughter of Lewis Heltzel and Nellie Mae (George) Shelden, and departed this life at 9:10 a.m., Tuesday, October 29, 2013, in the Mercy Hospital, Springfield. Carolyn had attained the age of 71 years, 11 months and 13 days.

Carolyn was united in marriage to Lawrence H. Switzer on August 17, 1967. She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant daughters; four brothers, Joe, Paul, Charles "Bud", and Don Shelden; and three sisters, Fern Foster, Vivian DeTrafford and Ruby June Griffin.

Carolyn was a member of the First Baptist Church, Dixon, and was a member and officer of Garnett Chapter No. 283, Dixon, Order of the Eastern Star. She had worked for Brown Shoe Company, Dixon; Baden Moving and Storage, Dixon; and Quaker Window Products, Freeburg. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, drinking coffee and visiting at Linda's Restaurant, fishing and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals as well as her grandchildren's sporting events. She was a good friend to all who knew her and was a loving mother and grandmother.


Those left to mourn the passing of Carolyn include: her daughter, Michele Switzer, Dixon; three brothers, Ed Shelden, St. Robert; James Shelden, Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Gary Shelden, St. Robert; three grandchildren, Chelsea Jeter, Dylan Donati and Tucker Brown; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Carolyn at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 1, 2013, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon, with Pastor Helen Winters, Seaton Faith Fellowship Church, Dixon, officiating.

Interment was in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Carolyn were Dylan Donati, Chadley Warnol, Chase Kelley, Landon Anderson, C.J. Regan, Aaron Simmons and Nathan Gilbert.

Memorials are suggested per the wishes of the family in memory of Carolyn Jane Switzer with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
