Obituary

Carolyn Frances Tanner, of Crocker, MO, was born on August 12, 1935, the daughter of Clarence William Palmer and Grace Ellen (Jones), and departed this life at 4:45 p.m., Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at the Richland Care Center, in Richland, MO. Carolyn had attained the age of 87 years, 1 month, and 8 days.

Carolyn grew up in Valley Park, MO.  She was united in marriage on June 8, 1966, in Miami, Oklahoma to William "Bill" Tanner, Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband;  one son, Kenneth Dale Jeffries; her parents, Clarence and Grace; and one brother, Charles P. Palmer.
Carolyn had accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior and was an active  member of the First Baptist Church of Crocker for many years.  Carolyn had worked for Dr. John Mihalevich for many years, and was the co-owner of the Crocker Phillips 66 Station, until her husband retired in December 2009. You could even catch Carolyn pumping gas and cleaning windshields for customers every once in awhile.

After retirement, Carolyn enjoyed working a few hours a week at Bear Ridge Antiques and searching for antiques and other unique items to fill her booth at Bear Ridge. She also enjoyed crocheting, yard saling, bowling, square dancing, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals games. She was always quick to give her opinion as to who should be playing and not playing, sometimes being a little hard on the pitchers.

She loved her family dearly. Those left to mourn the passing of Carolyn include:  one son and daughter-in-law, Johnnie "Pete" and Felicia Jeffries, Crocker; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary Johnson, Fort Dodge, Iowa; Glenna and Chuck Heidle, Springfield and Connie and Mark Sireno, Brandenburg, Kentucky; eleven grandchildren,  Natalee (Chris) Todd, Eric Jeffries, Aimee Neumann, Andrea Phillips, Kerry Johnson, Kenny Johnson, Shelby (Chris) Castillo, Jennifer Heidle, CJ (Kelly) Heidle, Erin Sireno, and Ashlee (Michael) Howard; twenty-seven great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m., on Friday, September 23, 2022 and from 10 – 11 a.m., Saturday, September 24, 2022 with her funeral to follow at 11 a.m., all in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Crocker.
