Catherine "Cathy" Elizabeth Goodman, of Dixon, was born on October 9, 1942, at Grand Rapids, Michigan, a daughter of William C. and Agnes Margaret (Van Heiden) McCarty, and departed this life at 5:35 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at her residence near Dixon. Cathy had attained the age of 70 years, 4 months and 27 days.

Cathy was united in marriage on May 17, 1963, at Dixon, to Howard Lee Goodman, Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cathy lived and traveled in Michigan, Kentucky, North Carolina, Japan and France before graduating from Dixon High School. As a teenager, she worked at Clarks Drug Store and Kennedys Restaurant and later for Western Electric in Lee's Summit. Cathy enjoyed doing puzzles and was an avid collector of antiques.

Those left to mourn the passing of Cathy include: her husband, Howard Lee Goodman, Jr., Dixon; three brothers, William McCarty, Waynesville; Tom McCarty, Michigan and Dan McCarty of Holden; five sisters, Marlene McLemore, Texas; Cynthia Swigert and Linda (George) Wheeler all of Waynesville; Margaret (Danny) Medley, Wheatland and Beverly McCarty, Lee's Summit; three brothers-in-law, Melvin (Alma) Goodman and Jerry (Jackie) Goodman, all of Dixon and Dan (Debbie) Goodman, Jefferson City; many nephews; nieces; cousins; and other relatives and friends.

In following Cathy's wishes, the family elected cremation with a private graveside memorial to be held at a later date.

All arrangements were under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Dixon.
