Charles Billie "Bill" Dake, 91 of Crocker, was born on August 21, 1930 at St. Anthony, a son of Grover Cleveland and Josie Pearl (Warden) Dake and departed this life at 7:59 a.m., Wednesday, November 24, 2021 in the University Hospital and Clinics, Columbia.
Bill was united in marriage on August 20, 1965, at Crocker to Miss Mary Elizabeth Strutton and to this union, one son was born. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Walter Dake and three sisters, Lois O'Malley, Mary Wilson and Francis Rowden.
Mr. Dake was a United States Marine veteran having faithfully served his country during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1953 and attaining the rank of Corporal. He had worked as a carpenter for most of his working life. Bill was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 4956, Crocker and the Disabled Veterans. He enjoyed walks around his farm, reading, hunting, fishing and bee keeping. He was a quiet man with a lot of wisdom.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Dake include: his wife of 56 years, Mary Dake; his son, James Dake and his sister, Martha Helton, all of Crocker and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Crocker with Bro. Bill Claiborn, Hilltop Church officiating.
Interment with military honors will be in the Bethany Cemetery near Crocker under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker. Pallbearers for Mr. Dake are Chris McCurley, Scott Huntington, Kenny Helton, Joe Leuthen, Richard Strutton and Derek Libbbert. Honorary pallbearers are Steve Strutton, Darrell Strutton and Steve Lamb.
Memorial contributions are suggested by the family to the Bethany Cemetery or to the Dake Cemetery in memory of Mr. Charles Billie Dake with envelopes available at the funeral home.
