Charles Cordell Mackney, of Crocker, was born on October 5, 1928, at Crocker, a son of Ernest H. and Dosha J. (Griffin) Mackney, and departed this life at 10:09 a.m., Monday, May 21, 2018, at his residence near Crocker. Charles had attained the age of 89 years, 7 months, and 16 days.
Charles was united in marriage on June 27, 1953, at Puxico, Missouri, to Meredith Louise Siler and to this union, two children were born. He was preceded in death by one son, Charles Michael Mackney; one grandson, Christopher "Bucky" Michael Henson; his father, Ernest; his mother, Dosha and one brother, Chester Eugene Mackney.
Charles was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He had attended church since a young child and was baptized early in life. At the time of his passing, Charles was a faithful member of the Crocker Christian Church; a member of the Waynesville Masonic Lodge Post No. 375 and the National Rifle Association. He had worked for the Fort Leonard Postal Service for eleven years and then for over seventeen years for the Waynesville Postal Service.
Those left to mourn the passing of Charles include: his wife of 65 years, Meredith Mackney, Crocker; one daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Joe Manzer, Camdenton; one sister, Ernestine Summerford, Crocker; three grandchildren, Michael, Megan and Mackenzie; with a great-grand baby expected in September; and many other relatives and friends.
