Obituary

William Charles Pummill, of Crocker, was born on August 5, 1926, at Crocker, a son of Everett R. and Mildred K. (Kerr) Pummill and departed this life at 6:15 a.m., Thursday morning, November 30, 2017 in the Missouri Veterans Home, St. James. Mr. Pummill had been in failing health and had attained the age of 91 years, 3 months, and 25 days.

Mr. Pummill was united in marriage on October 18, 1947, at Crocker, to Mabel Loraine Knox and to this union, three children were born. He was preceded in death by his wife on May 20, 2010; his father, Everett on April 12, 1972; his mother, Mildred on November 17, 1997; one brother, George Pummill and one sister, Maria Bolding.

Mr. Pummill was baptized on October 30, 1938 and was a lifelong member of the Crocker Christian Church. He was a United States Army veteran serving his country in Japan during World War II; and a member of the American Legion Post No. 195, Crocker. Mr. Pummill had worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail clerk for over 30 years, retiring in 1981. Following his retirement he worked in home construction for a short time and then for Newcomb's Hardware in Crocker. Mr. Pummill enjoyed walking and visiting with everyone that he met.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Pummill include: one son, John Pummill, St. Louis; two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda and Michael Gathings, Dallas, Texas and Janis Tanner, Crocker; one brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Sharon Pummill, Arnold; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and Tom Dudley, Las Vegas, Nevada; Sue and John Berkemeyer, Hermann and Judy and Bill Johnson, Yukon, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, James Sharp, Jeremy Sharp and Candra Vorum; nine great-grandchildren, Demarion, Marshawn, Hudson, Isaac, Zachary, Elliot, Carson, Stella and Ezra; his church family and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 10 - 11 a.m., with the funeral service at 11 a.m., all on Monday, December 4, 2017, in the Crocker Christian Church
