Obituary

Charles William Sherrell of Dixon, was born on September 25, 1941 in Dixon, a son of Charlie Lester and Cora Dale (Rollins) Sherrell and departed this life at 1:21 a.m., Tuesday morning, September 3, 2019 in the Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City. Mr. Sherrell had attained the age of 77 years, 11 months and 9 days.

Mr. Sherrell was united in marriage on October 2, 1959, in the Santee Church near Dixon, to Miss Pauline Emma Watson and to this union, one daughter was born. He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie in 1987 and his mother, Cora Dale in 2009.

Mr. Sherrell was baptized at an early age and at the time of his passing was a member of the Hancock Christian Church. He had worked as a locksmith at Fort Leonard Wood for 27 years retiring in 1988. Mr. Sherrell enjoyed being a locksmith, woodworking, hunting, fishing and the challenge of taking things apart and re-building them.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Sherrell include: his wife of nearly 60 years, Pauline Sherrell, Dixon; one daughter, Angela K. Sherrell, Dixon; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Roger and Mary Sherrell and Sam and Sandy Sherrell, all of Dixon; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Linda Campbell, Dixon; Idena and Ron Hale, Belle and Connie and Mike Morgan, Farmington; family members, Kenneth Wyss and Michael Alexander, several nephews and nieces and many other relatives and friends.

Mr. Sherrell graciously donated his body to science in hopes of helping others.

A private graveside service and interment will be held at a later date in the Freedom Cemetery near Dixon.
