Obituary

Claude Wesley York, age 91, of Crocker, was born on June 13, 1932, at Hooker, Missouri, a son of Claude Monroe and Lucy Ellen (Roderick) York and departed this life at 12:02 p.m., on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at his residence.

Mr. York was united in marriage on May 19, 1956, at Swedeborg to Miss Grace Marie Witt and to this union, three children were born. He was preceded in death by his wife on September 14, 2009; his daughter, Tricia Shrauger on July 21, 2022; his father, Claude on November 11, 1956; his mother, Lucy on November 12, 1956; one brother, K.W. "Willard" York and two sisters, Ruby Zykan and Lelia Belle Claiborn.

Mr. York was a 1951 graduate of Crocker High School, the last one of his class. He was baptized in April 1969 and was a faithful member of the Concord Christian Church. Mr. York had worked for Dunstan and Yows Construction as an equipment operator for over 42 years. He was devoted to his faith and family and enjoyed watching John Wayne movies and Andy Griffith.

Mr. York was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded and entitled to wear the National Defense Service Medal, The Korean Service Medal, The Good Conduct Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. York include: his children and their spouses, Trent and Helen Barnes-York of Crocker and Susie and Dana Hill of Eldon; one sister, Mary Carlson and her husband, Jerry, Rockford, Illinois; son-in-law, Melvin Shrauger, Linn Creek; his seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris) Finley; Justin (Brandy) Shrauger; Nathan (Kim) Hill; Jacob (Ashley) Hill; Dalton (Kelbey) York; Tyler (Bri) Barnes and Travis (Samantha) Barnes; fifteen great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until service time at 12:00 Noon all on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Crocker with Bro. Lee A. Todd officiating.

Interment with full military honors will be in the Concord Cemetery near Crocker under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker.

Memorials are suggested by the family to the Concord Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund with envelopes available at the funeral home.
