Obituary

Clifford M. Wyss, of rural Dixon, was born on November 15, 1920, in Maries County, a son of Monroe and Wilhelmine (Isenberg) Wyss and departed this life at 4:41 p.m., Monday, December 14, 2020 at his daughter's residence. Clifford had attained the age of 100 years and 29 days.

Clifford was united in marriage on May 31, 1941, at Tuscumbia to Mae Helen Slone and to this union, three children were born. He was preceded in death by his wife on January 23, 2018; his father on November 18, 1963; his mother on November 17, 1938; one granddaughter, Chelsea Wyss; and two brothers, Lawrence "Shorty" Wyss and Raymond "Fronie" Wyss.

Clifford was a United States Army veteran having served in 124 th Calvary. He was a member of the Kenner Church and had served as treasurer for many years. Clifford was a 58-year member of the America Legion Post 298, Dixon; had served over 50 years as an election judge in Brinktown; was a school board member of Hayden Heights and was a board member of the Soil and Water extension. He was a lifelong farmer and sawmill owner and operator on his century farm in Maries County.

Those left to mourn the passing of Clifford include: his children, Gary Wyss, Marilyn Dawson and her husband, Pat, and Marshall Wyss and his wife, Cindy; six grandchildren, Bryan Wyss, Andrea Bunda, Nichole Hughes, Lindsay Beers, Rick Dawson and Josh Dawson; one step-grandson, Jim Malone; nine great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. with his funeral service at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, December 18, 2020 in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon with Troy Porter and Trent Porter officiating.

Interment with full military honors will be in the West Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Clifford were Rick Dawson, Josh Dawson, Bryan Wyss, Hunter Wyss, Dwight Slone and Troy Porter. Honorary pallbearers were Nichole Hughes, Andrea Bunda, Lindsay Beers, Jason Hughes, Masyn Fenton, Brook Nicholson, Tyler Beers, Reese Dawson, Phoebe Dawson, Evie Dawson and Spencer Hughes.

Memorial contributions are suggested by the family to the West Fairview Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
