SFC (Retired) Craig Allen Moyer, of Dixon, was born on May 17, 1948, at Aurora, Illinois, a son of John Willard and Dolly Alice (Phelper) Moyer, and departed this life at 6:05 p.m., Monday evening, October 3, 2016, in the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital, Fort Leonard Wood. Mr. Moyer had been in failing health and had attained the age of 68 years, 4 months and 16 days.
Mr. Moyer was united in marriage on June 24, 1972, at Woodland, California, to Deborah Leigh Hawkins, and to this union, three sons were born. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Moyer served 22 years in the United States Army, retiring in 1990 and having attained the rank of SFC. While serving his country, SFC Moyer was awarded the National Defense Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; Vietnam Campaign Medal; Vietnam Service Medal (4); Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm Overseas Service Ribbon (2); Drill Sergeant Identification Badge; the Army Good Conduct Medal (6); the army Commendation Medal; Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (3); Army Achievement Medal; Joint Service Commendation Medal; and the Expert Qualification Badge M-16 Rifle.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Moyer include: his wife, Debbie Moyer, Dixon; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Sean and Susan Moyer, San Antonio, Texas; Matthew and Stefanie Moyer, Dixon and Keith Moyer, Orlando, Florida; one brother, Kurt Moyer, state of Pennsylvania; one sister, Kathy Loskot, Joliet, Illinois; five grandchildren, David, Taily, Megan, Logan and Xander; and many other relatives and friends.
