David Carl Best, of Florissant, was born on January 9, 1951, at Colorado Springs, Colorado, a son of Lester Walter and Edith Maxine (Hamilton) Best and departed this life at 11:56 a.m., Monday, December 23, 2019 at his residence. David had attained the age of 68 years, 11 months and 14 days.

David was a 1969 Dixon High School graduate and went on to graduate from the University of Missouri Rolla with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. He had worked for the Department of Interior in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa and Illinois as a Mining Engineer designing roads for the mining industry, retiring in 2016. David was baptized early in life and worked tirelessly for the Lord through his church, Chatham Bible Church, Hazelwood, Missouri and also served as a Deacon of Facilities, overseeing a major remodel for the past four months as well as being a member of the Gideon's International Bible. He enjoyed his church, model trains and traveling with his brother.

Those left to mourn the passing of David include: his mother Maxine Best, Dixon; his brother, Richard Best, Dixon; his sister, Rosalie Benefiel, St. Robert; numerous nephews and nieces; and many other relatives and friends.

David was preceded in death by his father, Lester on June 30, 2010 and one sister, Anna Wells on July 18, 2013.

Funeral services will be held for David at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 28, 2019 in the Hancock Christian Church with Bro. Gary Day officiating.

Interment will be in the Seaton Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for David are Steven Wells, Brandon Best, Wally Warner, James McClendon, Robert Wells and Ronnie Holt. Honorary pallbearers are John Naillon and Michael Best.

Memorial contributions are suggested by the family to the Gideon's International Bible with envelopes available at the Hancock Church or the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
