Obituary

David Kenneth Carroll, Jr., age 81, of Dixon, was born on March 27, 1944, in Phoenix, Arizona, a son of David, Sr. and Shirley (Lamb) Carroll and passed from this life on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 in the Dixon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dixon.

Sergeant First Class David Carroll, Jr. is remembered for his professionalism and military  knowledge. His outstanding performance of duty was in keeping with the proudest tradition of the military service for twenty years and reflects great credit upon himself, and the United States Army.  He retired from the Army on June 30, 1984 and worked another twenty years as a civil servant.  David was an active member of the American Legion Post 298 for many years.

David married the love of his life Lois E. Nelson on August 19, 2000.  They got to travel the world together and experience the love they had for other countries.  He remained a faithful and loving husband during their marriage of twenty-four years and eight months.  He also had a love for his 54 Hudson Hornet.  He was in several car clubs and enjoyed going to car shows and had  won many awards with his 54 Hudson Hornet.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Carroll of the home; stepsons, Robby Roberson (Sherry), Dixon, and Trevor Hayes (Donnella), Rocky Mount; brother, Tommy Carroll; sisters, Mary Ross, Theresa Hantzsche, Eileen Congo, and Eva Garcia; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

David was preceded in death by his father, David, Sr.; his mother, Shirley; brother, Roy Carroll; sisters, Patricia Carroll, Alana Carroll and Chrisy Carroll.

Visitation will be held for David from 4:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., on Friday, April 11, 2025 ending with the American Legion Post 298 final salute,  in the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel at 205 West Third Street, Dixon.

Inurnment will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Waynesville, at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 17, 2025,  under the direction of the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.

Memorial contributions in memory of Retired Sergeant First Class David K. Carroll are suggested per the wishes of the family, with envelopes available at the funeral home the day of his visitation or in care of the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services P.O. Box GG, Dixon, MO  65459.
