Obituary

David Lee Morris, of Crocker, was born on August 20, 1962, at Waynesville, a son of James Jackson and Velma Jane (Hamilton) Morris, and departed this life at 3:04 p.m., Tuesday, September 23, 2014, near Iberia, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. David had attained the age of 52 years, 1 month and 3 days.

David was a United States Army veteran, having served during Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and a life time member of the Disabled Veterans. David had worked as a tile setter for Wilber's Construction, Jefferson City and later for Larry Franklin and Sons, Crocker. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved all animals, especially his cats.

Those left to mourn the passing of David include: his mother, Velma Morris, Crocker; one brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Florenda Morris, Belton, Missouri; two uncles, John D. Hamilton and Jessie Deardeuff; two nephews, Shane Morris and Lance Morris; several great-nephews and nieces; cousins; and many other relatives and friends.

David was preceded in death by his father on March 18, 1994 and a half-sister, Loretta Leifert.

Funeral services were conducted for David at 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 26, 2014, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Crocker, with Bro. Bill Claiborn, Hilltop Christian Union Church, Crocker, officiating.

Interment with full military honors was in the Crocker Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Crocker. Pallbearers for David were Dennis Thornsberry, Larry Franklin, Rick Zweerink, Shane Morris, Lance Morris and Dan Boevingloh.

Memorials are suggested by the family to the local Humane Society or the Crocker Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker.
