Obituary

David James Ralph Finnigan, Sr., of Dixon, was born on February 28, 1939, at Detroit, Michigan, a son of Ralph E. and Grace E. (Gauthier) Finnigan, and departed this life at 3:42 p.m., Friday, May 1, 2015, in the St. Mary's Hospital, Jefferson City. Mr. Finnigan had attained the age of 76 years, 2 months, and 3 days.

Mr. Finnigan was united in marriage on October 1, 1960, at Orleans, France, to Nicole G. C. Trifigny, and to this union four children were born. He was preceded in death by one son, Ralph David Finnigan on February 28, 2004; one infant daughter, Virginia Finnigan at age 6 months, in February 1964; and his parents, Ralph and Grace.


Mr. Finnigan was a retired United States Army Veteran, having honorably served his country for over 24 years and attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. Following his retirement from the military, Mr. Finnigan worked for the Missouri Department of Corrections, Jefferson City, for 16 years as a maintenance supervisor. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 298, Dixon and the Arlington Masonic Lodge No. 346 A.F. & A.M., Dixon. He enjoyed tinkering on mechanical items but above all loved being with his family.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Finnigan include: his wife, Nicole Finnigan, Dixon; one son, David Finnigan, Jr., Dixon; one daughter and son-in-law, Nadine and Matt Novak, Dixon; three brothers, Don Finnigan, Michigan; Niel Finnigan and Richard Finnigan, both of Florida; two sisters, Carole Budnick, Michigan and June Murray, Florida; five grandchildren, Jessica, Maci, Sadie, Madeleine and Andrea; three great-grandchildren, Krista, Erin and Kylie; and many other relatives and friends.

Masonic services were held for Mr. Finnigan at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 5, 2015, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel Dixon, under the auspices of the Arlington Lodge No. 346, A.F. & A.M., Dixon.

Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Finnigan at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 6, 2015, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel with Pastor Keith Carnahan, Maranatha Baptist Church, St. Robert, officiating.

Interment with full military honors was in the Rolla City Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Mr. Finnigan were Greg Lee, Terry Thompson, Kevin Thompson, Robbie Maddox, Johnathan Maddox and Les Gentry. Honorary pallbearers were Matt Novak, David Finnigan, Jr., David Lowe, Jeremy Tope, Don Finnigan and Niel Finnigan.

Memorials are suggested per the wishes of the family with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
