Delores Lee Ward, of Dixon, was born on July 31, 1947, at Kansas City, Missouri a daughter of Edgar and Marjorie (Miller) Brickey and departed this life at 11:40 p.m., Sunday, December 6, 2015, in the University Hospital and Clinics, Columbia. Delores had attained the age of 68 years, 4 months and 5 days.
Delores was united in marriage on February 22, 1985, at Dixon, to John Raymond Ward. She was preceded in death by her parents; her Uncle John and Aunt Ruby Jennings whom had raised her since the age of six years and her step-son, John Michael Ward.
Delores was a member of the Living Word Worship Center, Dixon and loved the Lord and spreading his word. She was a former member of the Think and Do Club and had been a Girl Scout Leader. Delores enjoyed crafting, needle point, drawing, cooking and helping those who were less fortunate than her. She had been the owner and operator of Dee's Ceramic Shop and later she and her husband were owner and operators of Uncle John's Place Restaurant.
Those left to mourn the passing of Delores include: her husband, John Ward, Dixon; four daughters, Valerie (Dodds) and Michael Sowers, Jackson; LaDonna (Dodds) and Les Hansmann, and Brittany (Ward) and Jimmy Doyle and Beverly and Paul Watson, all of Dixon; two step-daughters, Sabina (Ward) and Larry Winterowd, Dieterich, Illinois and Amanda (Ward) and Jake Albert, New Orleans, Louisiana; one brother, Harold Thomas Wilhelm, Jefferson City; twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild and many other relatives and friends.
