Dennis Allan McMurtrey, son of Dale Oren and Judith Marie (Jones) McMurtrey, was born April 15, 1960 in Waynesville, MO. He departed this life on Sunday, July 6, 2014, at 2:01 a.m., surrounded by his family. Dennis had attained the age of 54 years, 2 months, and 21 days.
In his younger years Dennis loved racing motorcross alongside his brother, Steve and their father. Dennis was a jack of all trades. He worked as a welder and a roofer, but he enjoyed working on small engines. He really loved being outdoors. You could find him either fishing, floating down the river, hunting for arrowheads or playing with his remote control toys. On December 17, 2013, Dennis rededicated his life to the Lord at Amazing Grace Fellowship, Crocker.
Those left to mourn the passing of Dennis include: one son, Joe McMurtrey and one daughter, Beth McMurtrey both of Little Rock, Arkansas; his mother, Judy McMurtrey, Crocker; one sister, Debbie Grisham (Cecil), Crocker; one sister-in-law, Pam Tingle (Charley), Crocker; one nephew, Craig McMurtrey (Wendy), Crocker; one niece, Christy Meredith (Dustin), Iberia; one great-nephew, Caleb; two great-nieces, Callie and Tenley; Kathy McMurtrey, the mother of his children; special friend, Bonnie and extended family, Charlotte and Levi, Jessie and Mike, all of Crocker; and many other relatives and friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father on November 13, 2004; one brother, Steve McMurtrey on July 9, 1980; and his grandparents, Neal and Edna Jones and Clyde and Bernice McMurtrey.
Funeral service were held for Dennis at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 9, 2014, in the Crocker Presbyterian Church, with Damon Jones, Rolla, officiating.
Interment was in the Crocker Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker. Pallbearers for Dennis were Craig McMurtrey, Cecil Grisham, Fred Helms, Clay Clark, Rick Abbott and Levi Durreman. Honorary pallbearers were Charley Tingle, Dustin Meredith, Frank Fiatte and Billy Crawford.
