Diane Marie Platten, 81, of Crocker, was born on November 4, 1940, at Green Bay, Wisconsin, a daughter of Adrian and Waltera (VanLarhovan) Vissers and departed this life at 1:30 a.m., Wednesday morning, March 10, 2022.
Mrs. Platten was united in marriage on May 7, 1960, at New Port News, Virginia, to John Edward Platten and to this union, five children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 1, 2010; her daughter, Sandra Kaye Platten on January 12, 1987; her parents, Adrian and Waltera; one brother, George Vissers and two sisters, Juanita Solseng and Barbara Laubenthal.
Mrs. Platten was a member of the St. Cornelius Catholic Church, Crocker and the St. Cornelius Ladies Group. She was a devoted wife and mother and when her children were raised, she went to work at the commissary at Fort Leonard Wood as a cashier and then as a manager, retiring after 20 plus years of service. She enjoyed cooking and baking, sewing, reading and traveling, but most of all she enjoyed activities with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Platten include: her four children: John (Brandy) Platten, Holts Summit; Doug Platten and Cheryl Cornelison both of Crocker and Barbara (Jerry) Britt, Richland; seven grandchildren, Pamela, Amanda, LeeAnn, Jordan, Justin, Candy and Stacey; several great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held for Mrs. Platten on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 from 5 – 7 p.m., with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m., all in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Crocker.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 in the St. Cornelius Catholic Church, Crocker, with Rev. Mike Murphy celebrating.
Interment will be in the Crocker Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker. Pallbearers for Mrs. Platten will be John Platten, Doug Platten, Justin Britt, Jerry Britt, Joey Mendez and Amanda Cornelison. Honorary pallbearer is Michael Feldmeier.
Masses or memorial contributions are suggested by the family to the St. Cornelius Ladies Group with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker.
