Dizzy LeFon Carver, 85, of Crocker, born on June 21, 1936 in Pulaski County, son of Will Jennings Sooter and Gladys Marie (Carver) Sooter departed this life Thursday, March 31, 2022 at his residence after a long battle with cancer.
Dizzy was united in marriage to Carolyn Sue Dobbins on April 20, 1992, in Harrison, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his son, Roger Carver (2014), his father Will (2012), his mother Gladys (1941), his grandfather who raised him, Willis H. Carver, and his grandparents Menzo and Georgia Sooter.
Dizzy was baptized at a young age and was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church, Richland. He was a 1953 graduate of Crocker High School and attended two years at Missouri University at Columbia. He was owner of D.L. Carver Construction for over 55 years and maintained a sterling reputation in his concrete business. He assisted in the clean-up of the Shell Oil Spill in 1988-89. Dizzy enjoyed Civil War re-enactments, panning for gold, artifacts and treasure hunting, square dancing, traveling, farm life, as well as being an avid military and Bible history enthusiast.
Dizzy is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn, daughter, Yvonne (Willie) Luttrell, Iberia; son, David (Kim) Durreman, Richland; sons, Brad DuBerry and Kenneth Duberry, Springfield; daughter, Marquitta Wingo, Springfield; nine grandchildren, Dorothy (Travis) Abram, Nicholas Duberry, Samantha (Zach) Jacob, Kacey (Jamie) McGowan, Victoria (David) Norton, Jessica Oliva, Brandy Reel, Nikki Smith, and Elizabeth (Jeff) Young; thirteen great-grandchildren, Declan Jacob, Lily Jacob, Anthony Gould, Tristen Gould, Erren Jennings, Autumn McGowan, Clayton McGowan, Austyn Reel, Dakota Reel, Emma Reel, Reed Smith, Xavier Young and Isabella Oliva; sisters, Jeanne Sooter Pearl (California) and Evelyn May Sooter (Idaho) and brother Will James Sooter (Montana), as well as many other relatives.
Visitations will be Friday, April 8, 2022, 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 802 East Jefferson Avenue, Richland. Funeral service will be Saturday, April 9, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at the same location, officiated by Pastor Chuck Baker and Brother Charles Carver.
Interment will be at Antioch Cemetery, Crocker under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker.
In lieu of flowers, the wishes of the family are memorial contributions in Dizzy's memory.
