Donald Guy "Don" Smith, of Florissant, was born on October 2, 1932, at Dixon, a son of Alfred and America (Minze) Smith and departed this life at 4:22 a.m., Wednesday, April 8, 2015, in the DePaul Health Center, Bridgeton. Mr. Smith had attained the age of 82 years, 6 months, and 6 days.

Mr. Smith was united in marriage to Beverly Brandt on June 19, 1955, at Dixon, and to this union two children were born. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by one son, Norman Randall Smith; his parents, Alfred and America; four brothers, Kenneth Smith, Yale Smith, Elery Smith and Theodore Smith and one sister, Geneva Brandt.

Mr. Smith was a member of the Baptist Church in Ferguson. He had worked as a machinist for various companies in the St. Louis area and retired from Pohlman and Sons. Mr. Smith was also an auctioneer and enjoyed doing benefits for people and going on rides in the country.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Smith include: his wife of 60 years, Beverly Smith, Florissant; one son, Carey Smith, Florissant; one sister-in-law, Alma Smith, Pacific; two grandchildren, Amanda Smith and Randy Smith; one great-grandchild, Amberlynn; numerous nephews and nieces; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Smith at 12:00 noon, Saturday, April 11, 2015, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon, with Pastor Eddie Brandt, Richland, officiating.

Interment was in the West Fairview Cemetery near Dixon under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Mr. Smith were Jim Smith, Thom Gray, David Kitrel, Billy Ring, Bill Walz and Mike Gray.
