Obituary

Donald Snowden Crews, of Hancock, was born on September 11, 1927, at Crocker, a son of Medford and Maude (Hamilton) Crews, and departed this life at 5:00 a.m., Saturday, May 2, 2015, in the St. Elizabeth Care Center, St. Elizabeth. Mr. Crews had attained the age of 87 years, 7 months, and 21 days.

Mr. Crews was united in marriage on May 23, 1953, at Centralia, to the love of his life, Betty Lou Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty on April 28, 2001; his parents, Medford and Maude Crews; two brothers, Willis Crews and Willard Crews and two sisters, Wilma Kemp and Mildred Louise Crews.

Mr. Crews was a long time member of the Dixon Church of Christ and was one of the original trustees of the church property. He was a member of the Pulaski County Democratic Party and was appointed by the governor of Missouri to the Pulaski County Eastern District Commissioner. For many years he was an active member of the Dixon Saddle Club and always enjoyed showing his fox trotters and coming home with blue ribbons. Mr. Crews was a lifelong farmer in Pulaski County and enjoyed working on the farm and in the summer months working in the hay fields.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Crews include: one brother, Gene Crews, Beulah; one sister-in-law, Joan Jones, Crocker; several nephews; nieces; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Crews at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, May 4, 2015, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel with Minister Jarrod Harp, Church of Christ, Dixon, officiating.

Interment was in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Mr. Crews were Grover Warren Mitchell, Gary George, Matt Jones, Steve Jones, J.T. Roberts and Dale Saunchegrow. Honorary pallbearers were Isaac Sherrell, Tommy Dean Withers, Bill Rollins and Pat Ragan.

Memorials are suggested by the family to the Fair Haven Children's Home, Strafford, with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Dixon.
