Donald Henry Smith, 67, of Dixon, was born on March 2, 1954, at St. Louis, a son of Vernon Henry and Bonnie Fey (Evans) Smith and departed this life on Monday, June 14, 2021 in Daytona Beach, Florida
Donald was united in marriage on October 13, 1972, at Dixon, to Miss Sharon Mann and to this union, two sons were born. He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon on March 24, 2021.
Donald was baptized at a young age while attending Santee Church and was a 1972 graduate of Dixon High School. Following his graduation, he joined the Missouri National Guard and served his country honorably, retiring after 28 years and attaining the rank of E8. Donald also worked for Alltel/Windstream telephone company as a technician for over 38 years, retiring in December 2014. He loved to fish, go to NASCAR races, work in his yard and being with his grandchildren.
Those left to mourn the passing of Donald include: his wife, Sharon Smith, Dixon; his mother, Bonnie Smith, Dixon; his children, Brian (Renae) Smith, St. Robert and Robert (Heather) Smith, Traer, Iowa; his grandchildren, Tyler, Jacob, Troy and Stormy; his brother and sister-in-law, Dwight and Denice Smith, Edwards; uncles, aunts and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 12 noon until service time at 1 p.m. all Friday, June 25, 2021, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon with Rev. Bruce Doublin, Sunny View Free Will Baptist Church, Lebanon and Rev. Dale Blackwell, Victory General Baptist Church, Jonesboro, Arkansas officiating.
Interment with full military honors will be in the West Fairview Cemetery near Dixon under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Donald are Brian Smith, Robert Smith, Jacob Smith, Troy Hofius, Bobby Dozier and David Aldurien. Honorary pallbearers are Leland Alexander, Stormy Smith and Tyler Smith.
Memorial Contributions are suggested by the family to the Perpetual Care Fund for the West Fairview Cemetery with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
