Donna Mae Allen, of Swedeborg, was born on December 11, 1937, in Pulaski County, Missouri, a daughter of Thomas Edward and Lela (Denton) Helms, and departed this life at 10:10 p.m., Thursday, September 4, 2014, at her residence. Donna had attained the age of 76 years, 8 months, and 23 days.
Donna was united in marriage on August 21, 1954, in Pulaski County, to Albert Gene Allen, and to this union two children were born. She was preceded in death by her father on July 17, 1980; her mother on February 1, 2000; two brothers, twins, Robert and Richard Helms; one sister, Margie Rickerson and one half brother.
Donna loved serving the Lord at the Swedeborg Christian Church. Donna's first love was being with Gene, she was a devoted, loving housewife and homemaker. Donna also loved the time she spent with all of her family always diligent in providing for their needs. Donna loved the fall time, watching all the beautiful colors unfold, and she had a passion for quilting.
Those left to mourn the passing of Donna include: her husband of 60 years, Gene Allen, Swedeborg; one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Carolyn Allen, Crocker; one daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Steve Street, Crocker; four brothers, Felix Helms, Brumley; Ronnie Helms, Camdenton; Jimmy Helms, Lebanon and Bobby Helms, St. James; three half-sisters; four grandchildren, Nathan & Haydee Allen, Matthew & Rachel Street, Aaron & Amber Allen, and Brianna Street & Ryan; five great-grandchildren, Isabel, Zoe, Mason, Henry, and Ashtyn and two expected in the near future; numerous nephews; nieces; and other loved ones and friends.
Funeral services are held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 9, 2014, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Crocker, with Pastor Doug Jacobson and Bill Towns officiating.
Interment will be in the Crocker Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Crocker. Pallbearers for Donna were Nathan Allen, Matthew Street, Aaron Allen, Ryan Hendrickson, Earl Brandon and Vic Walters.
