Obituary

Dorothy Lee Crews, of Dixon, was born on February 5, 1929, at St. Louis, a daughter of James and Lydia (Wade) Schaffner and departed this life at 11:50 p.m., Friday, October 2, 2015, in the Dixon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dixon. Mrs. Crews had attained the age of 86 years, 7 months and 27 days.

Mrs. Crews was united in marriage on June 28, 1946, at Waynesville, to Leaman George Crews and to this union, four children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband on November 8, 2011; one daughter, Gayle Crews on August 12, 2012; one brother, Johnny Schaffner and two sisters, Tootie Henning and Kay Schaffner.

Mrs. Crews attended the Hilltop Christian Union Church, Crocker and had worked for Brown Shoe Company, Dixon. She enjoyed doing ceramics for many years.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Crews include: one son, Leaman "George" Crews, Jr., Dixon; two daughters and one-son-law, Beth Ann and Pete Owens, Ozark and Debbie Bradley, Dixon; two brothers, Jimmy Schaffner, Dixon and Sonny Schaffner, St. Charles; three sisters, Mary McNally, Union; Georgene Alexander, St. Charles and Sue Holterman, Freeburg; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; nephews; nieces; and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were conducted for Mrs. Crews at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 6, 2015, in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Fort Leonard Wood with Bro. Bill Claiborn, pastor of the Hilltop Christian Union Church, Crocker officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
