Obituary

Dorothy Fay Kent, of Marshfield, formerly of Dixon, was born on November 1, 1930, in Miller County, a daughter of Garrett William and Delphia Marie (Atwell) Nichols, and departed this life at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 2, 2015, in the Webco Manor, Marshfield. Mrs. Kent had been in failing health for some time and had attained the age of 84 years, 3 months, and 1 days.

Mrs. Kent was united in marriage on February 11, 1973, at Fort Leonard Wood, to Mr. James Wesley Kent. She was preceded in death by her husband on November 6, 2009; one daughter, Karen Glasscock Fritchey on October 14, 2009; her father, Garrett on April 16, 1996; her mother, Delphia on October 15, 1997; and one brother, Robert E. Nichols on January 4, 1960.

Mrs. Kent was a member of the First Baptist Church, Dixon; was a child care provider and sold AVON for over 30 years. She was on a Fort Leonard Wood bowling league for many years and enjoyed bird watching, flowers, gardening, crocheting, fishing and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Kent include: one son, Charles Glasscock, Dixon; two daughters and one son-in-law, Patricia (Glasscock) Bilitzke, Raleigh, North Carolina and Linda (Glasscock) and Brad Matherly, Marshfield; one sister, Gean Hunning, St. Louis; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and one expected in the near future; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Kent at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 6, 2015, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon, with Brad Matherly, Marshfield, officiating.

Interment was in the Seaton Cemetery near Dixon under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Mrs. Kent were Paydn Davis, Steve Hauck, Glenn Knapp, Kyle Knapp, Donald Warnol and Derek Fisher. Honorary pallbearers were Anthony Russell, Joshua Bilitzke, Raymond Carter, William Carter, Daryl Johnson and Tim Flores.

Memorial contributions are suggested by the family to the Diabetes Foundation or the Preferred Hospice with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Dixon.
