Dorothy Corinne Lathrop, of Crocker, was born of September 5, 1939, at Ulman, a daughter of John and Ruby (Rowden) McDowell and departed this life at 1:57 p.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2017, in the Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach. Mrs. Lathrop had attained the age of 77 years, 4 months, and 19 days.
Mrs. Lathrop was united in marriage on June 6, 1955, at Kansas City, Missouri to James Elwin Lathrop and to this union four children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Julie Jones; three brothers, Archie McDowell, Virgil McDowell and Donald McDowell and two sisters, Eula Mae Long and Opal Long.
Mrs. Lathrop had been a member of the Crocker VFW Post No. 4956 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, spending time with her family and along with her husband, they were caretakers of the Hawkeye Cemetery near Crocker. Mrs. Lathrop was a loving and devoted housewife and homemaker.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Lathrop include: her husband, James Lathrop, Crocker; two sons, Paul Lathrop, Richland and Jimmy Lathrop, Crocker; two daughters and one son-in-law, Reba Carter, Crocker and Corky and Gayle Hill, Iberia; two brothers, J.D. McDowell, state of Texas and Robert McDowell, Lake of the Ozarks; eight grandchildren, Rachel, Mike, Wes, Neal, Mindy, Cody, Daniel and Adam; six great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A visitation was held for Mrs. Lathrop from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 27, 2017, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Crocker.
Interment followed the visitation in the Hawkeye Cemetery, near Crocker, under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker. Pallbearers for Mrs. Lathrop were Paul Lathrop, Gayle Hill, Adam Lathrop, Wesley Hill, John Marso and Rocky Foster.
