Dorothy Joanne Smith was born in Crocker to Aimee Thomlinson on October 14, 1930. Dorothy departed this life at 5:25 a.m., Saturday, April 22, 2017 in the Macon Health Center, Macon, MO. She had attained the age of 86 years, 6 months, and 8 days.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Glen Raymond Smith on November 12, 1950 at Mountain Home, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 15, 1970; an infant son; her mother, Aimee; and three sisters, Margaret Fagre, Carena Smith and Eula Hissom.
Dorothy accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior and followed her Lord in baptism. She was a member of the Christian Church and was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She lived most of her life in Crocker and graduated Valedictorian of her class in May 1948. Dorothy was employed as Crocker City Clerk from 1970 to 1976 and retired from Fort Leonard Wood as a Travel Clerk on April 30, 1993. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She also enjoyed reading and relaxing on her back porch.
Those left to mourn the passing of Dorothy include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Mary Smith, Crocker and Ronald and Vicki Smith, Dickson, Tennessee; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Matt Lile, Clever and Shelley and Dale Devenport, Moberly; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild expected in the near future; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held for Dorothy at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 26, 2017, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Crocker with Jeff Brown, Christ Mission Church, St. Robert officiating.
Interment was in the Crocker Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker. Pallbearers for Dorothy were Sean Smith, Glen Smith, Travis Smith, Errean Smith, David Bollenbach, Daniel Bollenbach, Steven Lile and Dale Devenport.
