Obituary

James Douglas Dake, of Dixon, was born on June 9, 1951, at Dixon, a son of James Marion and Naomi Thelmo (Pasley) Dake, and departed this life at 5:31 a.m., Friday, June 13, 2014, in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla. Doug had attained the age of 63 years and 4 days.

Doug was united in marriage on March 26, 1987, at Waynesville, to Brenda Jean Fowler, who preceded him in death on August 10, 2005. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Jason Dake; his parents; two brothers, Ralph Reese and Bobby Dake; one nephew, Jammie Barber and a brother-in-law, Michael Fowler.

Doug was a member of the First Baptist Church, Dixon. He coached many youth teams for many years and was a devoted member of the DYRA (Dixon Youth Recreation Association). Doug was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Dixon and had served as Dixon City Alderman. He was owner and operator of Ozark Sanitation and enjoyed fishing and drag racing but above all loved his family and attending his grandchildren's functions.

Those left to mourn the passing of Doug include: one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Joni Ellis, Owensville; two daughters, Christie Hughes and husband, Josh and Melissa Joram and companion, Marcus Lavender, all of Dixon; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Carlis and Betty McClain, Laquey; Clenis and Gloria McClain, state of Texas; Wayne and Karen Reese, Dixon; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Thelma Steinbaur; Darlene and Lonnie Vineyard and Deb and Chuck Barber, all of Dixon; and Penny and James Whitt, Palmyra, Michigan; six grandchildren, Jordan, Wyatt, Jace, Tressa, Aidan and Keenan.

Funeral services were held for Doug at 6:00 p.m., Monday, June 16, 2014, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon, with Pastor Bobby Williford, First Baptist Church, Dixon, officiating. Interment was in the Dixon Cemetery.
