Douglas Edward Kampeter was born in Jefferson City, Mo on November 26, 1956 to Ode and Rita Evers Kampeter. He passed from this life at Ellis Fischel Cancer Hospital on October 19, 2013.
Doug grew up in Meta, MO but spent many summers at the Kampeter Family Farm in Argyle, MO. He graduated from Fatima High School in Westphalia, Mo in 1974. He moved to Illinois and moved up in the corporate world of copiers and printers, receiving many awards for his management style and skills. After many years he returned to his home area where he began the next phase of his life.
Doug and his wife Debbie met at an early point in their lives. She was totally smitten but he didn't notice her due to her young age. Years later, their paths crossed again and this time he fell hard and moved to Dixon, which was her home, to be near her. Doug and Debra Jean Conner were married on November 29, 1997 at the Kenner Church of God. Their marriage was blessed with two beautiful children who were the center of his world; a daughter, Doria Rose (Dorie) born on June 29, 1999 and Shannon Joseph born on October 28, 2002.
Doug worked in manufacturing in later years until a diagnosis of cancer forced him to retire. He continued to raise cattle. He loved to hunt and fish and work on his farm with his faithful dog Clifty at his side. One of his favorite places to spend time was the Kampeter Cabin on the Osage River. He delighted in teaching his children and instilling his love of the outdoors in them. He was so grateful that he had slowed down and enjoyed quality time with his father, brother, sisters, niece, and nephews whom he dearly loved.
Doug is survived by his wife, Debbie, who truly was his best friend, daughter, Dorie, and son, Shannon of the home. His father, Ode and his wife Kaye; brother, Rick and wife Bonnie; sisters, Terry Kampeter and friend, Dick Schnieders, Lori Distler and husband, Mike all of Meta, MO; nephews, Wes Kampeter and wife, Kelly, Dusty Stegeman and wife, Amber, and Austin Distler; niece, Emily Libbert and husband, Trevor; great nephews, Trenton and Evan Kampeter and a special little surprise he was waiting for in the spring, Hunter Libbert, and Bradyn Stegeman; great nieces, Lacey Libbert and Kambrie Stegeman; special aunts, Ann Schulte and family of Meta, MO and Linda Reichel and family of Argyle.
