Drura Lawrence "Larry" Salveter, of Crocker, was born on June 15, 1932, in St. Louis, a son of Drura Daniel and Mae (Poulson) Salveter, and departed this life at 8:20 a.m., Wednesday, November 5, 2014, in the Mercy Springfield Hospital following a brief illness. Larry had attained the age of 82 years, 4 months, and 20 days.
Larry was united in marriage on October 3, 1954, at Kansas City, Missouri, to Marilyn Joyce Ferguson, and to this union, two children were born. He was preceded in death by his father in July of 1980 and his mother in July of 1989.
Larry was a United States Navy veteran having served from February 1952 to January 1956, during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from the University of Missouri, Columbia on June 6, 1958. Larry was a humble man, having served on many boards in Pulaski County and was still a member of many organizations. The most important things in Larry's life were his family, his church, his bank, his farm and his many friends. "We love you, and will miss you every day of our lives."
Those left to mourn the passing of Larry include: his wife of 60 years, Marilyn Salveter of the home in Crocker; one son, Daniel Salveter; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Mike Neuman, all of Crocker; one sister and brother-in-law, Jacqueline and Lilburn Penland, Corpus Christy, Texas; one step-grandson, Justin Neuman; five nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted for Larry at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 8, 2014, in the Crocker Presbyterian Church, with Bro. Bill Claiborn, Hilltop Christian Union Church, Crocker, officiating. Betty Layman provided two favorite musical selections.
Interment was in the Crocker Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Crocker. Pallbearers for Larry were Donald York, Jr., Wayne Anderson, Ronnie Layman, Justin Neuman, Brian Layman and C. Joe Thornsberry. Honorary pallbearers were Tyce Smith, Calvin Penland, Bud Newcomb, Bob Goodrich and Charles Pummill.
