Edith Hayes of Waynesville, formerly of rural Dixon, was born on October 6, 1926, at Haida, Czechoslovakia, a daughter of August and Adele (Stadler) Huebel, and departed this life at 11:49 p.m., Saturday, March 14, 2015, in the Life Care Center of Waynesville. Mrs. Hayes had attained the age of 88 years, 5 months, and 8 days.
Mrs. Hayes was united in marriage on June 26, 1954, at Bamberg, Germany to John James Hayes. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and one nephew, Patrick Brewer.
Mrs. Hayes was a member of the Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Brinktown. She had worked as a waitress as well as being a loving and devoted housewife and homemaker. Mrs. Hayes enjoyed gardening and was an avid bingo player.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Hayes include: one nephew, James Brewer and his wife, Patricia, Chesterfield; Patrick's wife, Susan Brewer; great-nephews, Erich, Jason, John and Joseph Brewer; great-niece, Sarah Brewer; and other relatives and friends.
Visitation for Mrs. Hayes will be held from 10 – 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2015, in the Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Brinktown.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mrs. Hayes at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2015, in the Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Brinktown, with the Rev. Matthew Flatley officiating.
Interment will be in the Jefferson Barracks Cemetery, St. Louis, on Thursday, March 19, 2015, under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Dixon.
