Obituary

Edward "Ed" Lavelle Donahue, age 87, of Richland, formerly of Dixon, was born on November 28, 1937, at Dead River, Maine, a son of Frank and Beatrice (Wing) Donahue and passed from this life on Monday, May 19, 2025, in the Richland Care Center, Richland.

Ed was united in marriage on November 1, 1968, at Chelmsford, Massachusetts to Miss Marion Alice Smith, who preceded him in death on January 22, 2013.

On December 29, 1959, at Ft. William, Maine, Mr. Donahue entered into active federal service in the United States Army and served until December 18, 1970, when he was honorably discharged at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri at the rank of Staff Sergeant.  A man of excellent character, Mr. Donahue's Honorable Discharge is a testimony of selfless and faithful service to his country.

Following his military career, Mr. Donahue worked in construction as an equipment operator. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time outdoors. He loved his dogs, Max and Foxy.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Ed Donahue include: his sisters, Christine Woodward, Ethel Bardsley, Georgie Woodford and Faye Chadbourne; his dear friends, Jim and Mindy Warren and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Donahue was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Beatrice; brothers, Frank Donahue, Jr. and Ralph Donahue; and his sisters, Helen Bubier, Olive Bradbury and Ruth White.

A Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 12, 2025 in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Waynesville with full military honors, under the direction of the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Loving Paws Adoption Center in Crocker with envelopes available at the funeral home or c/o Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Home at P.O. Box GG Dixon, MO  65459.
