Obituary

Edward Lee "Cotton" Gray, of Devil's Elbow, was born on January 8, 1928, at Hooker, a son of Claude Monroe and Ella (Ludwig) Gray, and departed this life on Friday, July 17, 2015, at his residence. Mr. Gray had attained the age of 87 years, 6 months, and 9 days.

Mr. Gray was united in marriage on June 10, 1949, at Mountain Home, Arkansas to Esther Florance Miller, this union was blessed with two children. He was preceded by his wife Esther on August 16, 2010; one daughter, Juanita Van Huss; his parents, Claude and Ella Gray; one brother, Charles Gray and two sisters, Francis Young and Daisy Hirt.

Mr. Gray was a United States Army veteran. He was baptized early in life and was a member of the New Life Christian Church, St. Robert. He had worked as a truck driver and was known as "Mr. Fix It", he could fix almost anything. Mr. Gray enjoyed fishing, camping and enjoyed helping anyone in need.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Gray include: one son, Mark Edward Gray; one daughter-in-law, Sally Gray, Granite City, Illinois; one brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Wanda Gray, Dixon; one step brother, James Bullard, state of Texas; four sisters and one brother-in-law, Barbara Giradona, Pacific, Flossie Mendenhall and Elsie and Mike Powers, all of Dixon and Nancy Jones, Columbia; five grandchildren, Veronica, Bradley, Kelsey, Stephanie and Jamie; numerous nephews and nieces; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m, on Friday, July 24, 2015, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon.

Funeral services will be conducted for Mr. Gray at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 24, 2015, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon with Bro. Mike McKinney officiating.

Interment with full military honors will be in the Dry Creek Cemetery near St. Robert under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.

Memorial contributions are suggested by the family to the Wounded Warrior Project with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
