Edward Charles "Eddie" York, of Dixon, was born on April 10, 1949, at Dixon a son of Ward Ancil and Mary Ellen (Evans) York and departed this life at 10:20 p.m., Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at his residence. Eddie had attained the age of 70 years, 2 months and 23 days.
Eddie was united in marriage on November 7, 1981, at Dixon to Carole Kennedy. He was preceded in death by his father on December 21, 2002; his mother on August 4, 1993; five brothers, Eugene York on August 17, 2008; Terry York on March 5, 2019 and three infants, Dennis on June 27, 1959; William Newton on November 14, 1961 and Samuel Richard on December 4, 1963; one sister-in-law, Reda Faye York on May 31, 2017 and one great-nephew, Conner Galloway in 2008.
Eddie was a veteran of the United States Air Force; a member of the Santee Community Church, Dixon and the Operators Local Union 513 IUOE, Bridgeton. He had worked in construction for all his working life and retired as a superintendent from Bloomsdale in 2011. Eddie loved to camp, fish, hunt and help with church functions. He had a servant's heart and loved lending a helping hand to anyone. Even through his struggles, he always had a smile and a hug for everyone he met.
Those left to mourn the passing of Eddie include: his wife, Carole York, Dixon; 2 sons, Klint Owens, Ft. Worth, Texas and Dustin Loyd (Pam Massey), Dixon; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Nicki and Doug Kloeppel; Amber and James Barber and Kyzee York (Big Cole Emmons), all of Dixon; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Donnie and Beverly York, Niangua and Kenny York, Dixon; six grandsons, Chase Kloeppel, Cody Kloeppel, Colton Bowman, Caleb Kloeppel, Cooper Lawson and Lane Barber; one granddaughter, Brenna Barber; three great-grandchildren, Dalton, Oaklynn and Ava; Donna Thomas, Dixon, mother of Nicki and Amber; numerous nephews and nieces and many other relatives and friends.
