Effie Jean Higginbotham, of Dixon, was born on February 22, 1929, at Cave City, Arkansas a daughter of Rolfe Walden and Vertie (Carpenter) Due and departed this life at 1:03 a.m., Saturday, August 5, 2017, at her residence. Mrs. Higginbotham had attained the age of 88 years, 5 months, and 14 days.

Mrs. Higginbotham was united in marriage on June 15, 1946, at Williford, Arkansas to Bob Maxie Higginbotham. She was preceded in death by her husband on December 17, 2007; one son, William Higginbotham on May 10, 2008; her parents and four brothers.

Mrs. Higginbotham was a member of the Dixon Church of Christ and had served as a council woman on the board of Alderman for the City of Dixon, Ward I. She was a housewife and homemaker, always diligent in providing for the needs of her family.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Higginbotham include: three sons and one daughter-in-law, Robert and Cindy Higginbotham; Ronnie Higginbotham and Steven Higginbotham; two daughters and one son-in-law, Barbara Schmidt and Bonnie and Spencer Son; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Higginbotham at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 9, 2017, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon with Robert Higginbotham officiating.

Interment was in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon. Relatives and Friends served as pallbearers for Mrs. Higginbotham.
