Ellen Lorene Cardin departed this earth and gained her spiritual wings on Friday, January 5, 2024 at the age of 92 years. She was born on October 23, 1931, to the late Harry Bryan and Marcella (Helms) Cardin.
Lorene was preceded in death by her father, Harry in 1995; her mother, Marcella in 1977; four brothers, William B. Cardin, Robert D. "Bob" Cardin; George F. Cardin and Elmer J. Cardin; two sisters, Virginia Cardin at age 1 year and Dorothy C. Young; brothers-in-law, Rex Young and Gordon Watson and sister-in-law, Mary Cardin.
Lorene was baptized in 1995 and was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Jerome. Most importantly, she leaves her legacy of her love for the Lord and her hopes were for each of her family members to believe in Jesus and follow him as their personal Savior.
Lorene was a 1949 graduate of Dixon High School and went on to further her education graduating in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science in Education from the Southwest Missouri State College and later received her Master's degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Her teaching career began in the Mungie School for two years and then in the Jerome school. When the small schools were all consolidated, she began teaching for the Newburg School system retiring in May 1997 after 47 years teaching many generations.
Lorene enjoyed gardening and canning, reading, her Bible study time, traveling and sight seeing.
Those left to cherish the memory of Lorene include: her siblings, John C. (Donna) Cardin, Bennett, Colorado; Eloda Watson, Strafford; Alfred R. (Joyce) Cardin, Vida; Ruth (David) Rinck, Rolla and Carl (Linda) Cardin, Jerome; sisters-in-law, Madelyn Cardin (Herman), Jeanette Cardin, and Gloria Cardin; numerous nephews and nieces and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 p.m., Friday, January 12, 2024 in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon and from 10 a.m. until the time of her service at 11 a.m., on Saturday, January 13, 2024 in the First Baptist Church, Jerome with Pastor Paul Craine officiating.
Interment will be in the Pisgah Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers will be Carl Cardin, Andy Cardin, Dwayne Cardin, Nathan House, Rick Barnes and Mark Dusenberry with all her other nephews serving as honorary pallbearers.
Memorial contributions are suggested by the family to the First Baptist Church of Jerome or to the Pisgah Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund with envelopes available at the church or the funeral home.
