Elsie Louise Powers, of Dixon, was born on August 6, 1941, at Devil's Elbow, a daughter of Claude Monroe and Evelyn Mae (Watson) Gray, and departed this life at 11:58 a.m., Saturday morning, September 10, 2016, in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla. Mrs. Powers had attained the age of 75 years, 1 month, and 4 days.
Mrs. Powers was united in marriage on August 22, 1992, at Columbia, to Michael Alan Powers. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Charlie Gray and Edward Gray and two sisters, Francis Young and Daisy Hirt.
Mrs. Powers was a member of the Word of Life Fellowship Church, Dixon and the NRA. She enjoyed collecting dolls but her greatest love was music and playing the rhythm and bass guitars as well as being lead singer and harmony. Mrs. Powers had worked as maintenance department supervisor for Ellis Fischel Hospital, Columbia.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Powers include: her husband, Mike Powers, of Dixon; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Tommy and Raylene Thompson, state of North Carolina and Troy Thompson, Columbia; three daughters and one son-in-law, Belinda Metzen, Bunceton; Kathy Rothwell, state of North Carolina; and Stella and Jake Gingrich, Union; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Harry and Wanda Gray, of Dixon and James Bullard, state of Texas; three sisters, Barbara Giradona, Pacific; Flossie Mendenhall, Dixon and Nancy Jones, Columbia; twelve grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
