PENLAND - Ewell “Calvin” Penland, 83, a resident of Crocker, Missouri passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026, at his residence. He is survived by his wife Nedda Penland (Van Houten Hamilton) of Crocker, MO; his daughter, Emily Price and husband William of Lebanon, MO; step-children, Allister Hamilton and wife Tara of Albuquerque, NM, Mitchell Hamilton of Waynesville, MO, Courtney Friend and husband Josh of Crocker, MO, and Caitlin Hamilton and fiancé Jason of Crocker, MO; his sister, Sue Foster and husband Kenny of Waynesville, MO; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, Ewell “Squeak” and Clarabelle Penland; sister Gloria Lee Tanner; and first wife, Joy Nell McGee. He was born on May 20, 1943, in Springfield, Missouri to Ewell and Clarabelle Penland.

From the young age of 7, Calvin solidified his faith and professed his life to God and the service of others. Calvin was a local barber servicing Crocker, Waynesville and Fort Leonard Wood for 54 years. During this time, he also worked for and retired from the United States Postal Service. Calvin was united in marriage to Joy Nell McGee for 49 years, until her passing in 2013. Calvin enjoyed the last 12 years of his life married to Nedda and continued being an encouragement to the Friends that attended Sunday bible study meetings in their home. Calvin had a big heart and truly loved meeting people and learning their life stories.

Visitation will be held for Calvin Penland from 10 a.m. until the time of his service at 12 noon on Friday, September 11, 2026 in the Crocker Christian Church, 16200 Highway 17, Crocker, Missouri, with Mr. George Peterson, Mr. Daniel Farris, and Ms. Jennifer Horton officiating.

Internment will be in the Crocker Cemetery under the direction of the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker.

Calvin’s family is grateful for the friends and family members that have reached out, sent prayers, and provided support and encouragement over the past six-months. The family would also like to provide a special Thank You to Three Rivers Hospice, who dedicated their time to provide such excellent care to not only Calvin but for his family as well during his final weeks. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Memory of Mr. Ewell “Calvin” Penland, to the Three Rivers Hospice, 242 S. Main, Licking, or with envelopes available at the church the day of his service, or may be mailed to the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Home, P.O. Box 700, Crocker, MO 65452.
