Frances Darlene "Fran" Cook, of Dixon, was born on March 22, 1942, in St. Francois County, Missouri, a daughter of George and Dorothy (Cowley) Buxton and departed this life at 4:41 a.m., Monday, March 1, 2021 in the University Hospital and Clinics, Columbia. Mrs. Cook had attained the age of 78 years, 11 months and 7 days.
Mrs. Cook was baptized when she was a young teenager and was a member of the Second Baptist Church. She was a veteran of the United States Army and was honorably discharged after 10 years of faithful service to her country. Mrs. Cook had worked as a registered nurse for Dixon Nursing and Rehab and then later of the Department of Correction, Jefferson City. She enjoyed sitting on her porch watching people go by, taking care of her yard and animals, but most of all she enjoyed visits from her family.
Those left to cherish her memories are her grandchildren, Steven Cook and his wife, Britt, Sturgeon Lake, Minnesota and Antoinette Crowell and her husband, Jeremy, Moose Lake, Minnesota; her daughter-in-law, Stephanie Cook, Sturgeon Lake, Minnesota; four great-grandchildren, Korbyn, Bella, Coy and CeaReah; her brother, Jim Lee and wife, Kim, of Oregon; her sister, Bonnie Threet of Arizona; four nephews and nieces; and many other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her son, Steven Cook; her parents, George and Dorothy; one brother, Robert Lee and her special friend, Carol DeWeese.
A graveside service will be held for Mrs. Cook at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 3, 2021 in the Kenner Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon with Pastor Scott Ballard, Dixon Assembly of God officiating.
Honorary pallbearers for Mrs. Cook are Steven Cook, Jeremy Crowell, Korbyn Cook, Coy Crowell and C.J. Massey.
