Fred Howard Maits, of Dixon, was born on May 19, 1949, in Winter Haven, Florida, a son of Richard Allen and Elvie Virginia (South) Maits and departed this life at 5:45 p.m., Friday, December 23, 2011, at his residence in Dixon. Fred had attained the age o f 62 years, 7 months and 4 days.
Fred was preceded in death by his mother.

Fred had worked as a security guard in the phosphate mines.

Those left to mourn the passing of Fred include, his father, Richard Maits, Ft. Meade, Florida; five daughters, Gina Maits, state of California; Toni Whalen, Lakeland, Florida; Bobbie Jones, Dixon; Michele Maits and Genie Maits, both of Winter Haven, Florida; one sister, Pamela Hammac, Winter Haven, Florida; thirteen grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date in Florida.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
