Galin Lee Shelton, age 60, of Mattoon, Illinois, formerly of Dixon, was born on November 18, 1964, at Waynesville, a son of Jerry Lee and Angela Mae (Smith) Shelton and passed from this life on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, in  Carle Hospital, Urbana, Illinois.

A United States Army veteran, Galin was baptized early in life and was a graduate of Dixon R-1 High School. He had worked for RR Donley and Sons Publishing Company, Mattoon, Illinois, retiring as a foreman after twenty years. Galin had been a member of the American Legion.

Those left to mourn the passing of Galin include: his father, Jerry Shelton, Rolla; his mother, Angela Shelton, Mattoon, Illinois; his children, Zach Shelton, Laquey; Sheena Helton, Vienna and Angelina Shelton, Champaign, Illinois; his siblings, Jermie Shelton, Rolla and Belinda Shelton, Dixon; six grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Estel and Ruth Reedy and paternal grandparents, Tom and Roberta Shelton.

Visitation was held for Galin from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. all on Monday, December 16, 2024, in the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon.

Private interment was in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
